On April 18, 2026, Prof. Fang Yu was invited to attend the Centennial Development Conference of the Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University, held at the New Tsinghua Auditorium on the Tsinghua University campus.

The Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University was established in 1926 and is one of the university’s 17 founding departments. Over the past century, the Department has achieved remarkable accomplishments in discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research, and social service. It has nurtured a large number of outstanding talents, including 61 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and has produced a wealth of innovative achievements addressing the frontiers of science and technology as well as national strategic needs. The department has reached world-leading levels in multiple fields and has made significant contributions to the development of chemistry in China.
Qiu Yong, secretary of the Party Committee at Tsinghua University; Wan Lijun, president of the Chinese Chemical Society and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Tang Qianjun, a representative of the American Chemical Society (ACS), attended the conference and delivered speeches.
More than 1,000 people attended the conference, including academicians such as Wu Weizu and Jin Yong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Cao Yong of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; representatives from domestic and international academic organizations such as the Chinese Chemical Society; guests from partner universities and research institutions; representatives of alumni from both home and abroad; as well as retired faculty members, current faculty and staff, and student representatives from the Department of Chemistry.
