Overview

The Institute of New Concept Sensors and Molecular Materials (INCSMM) of Shaanxi Normal University is a interdisciplinary and institutional innovation platform established by the university. The Institute is built on the basis of the Key Laboratory of Applied Surface and Colloid Chemistry of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education/State Administration of Foreign Affairs (SAFA) Innovation and Intelligence Base of Applied Surface and Colloid Chemistry and the Shaanxi Centre for Basic Science of Surface and Interface Chemistry. The Institute is guided by the national strategy and the needs of the local economic development in Shaanxi, with the aim of forming a high-level research team, highlighting its strengths and characteristics, and producing landmark research results. Defining its development goals, INCSMM aims to break the boundaries of disciplines, integrate the resources of advantageous disciplines and the research strengths of related disciplines across the university, condense the development directions of emerging and interdisciplinary disciplines, in an effort to promote the cross-development of chemistry and related  disciplines. INCSMM strives to achieve major research output, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and breakthroughs in national science and technology awards and high-end product development combining government, industry, academia, research and application to serve national and regional economic and social development.



Our History

The Institute of New Concept Sensors and Molecular Materials is developed from the Photonic Nose and Molecular Materials research group led by Prof. Fang Yu, which in turn originated from the Laboratory of Bioinorganic Chemistry of Shaanxi Normal University established in 1985 initiated by Professors Geng Qihui, Sun Zuomin and Wu Qi. The directors of the Laboratory of Bioinorganic Chemistry were: Geng Qihui (1911-1994), Sun Zuomin (1929-) and Wu Qi (1929-).
