Class of 2023 graduate students pass dissertation and thesis defense

On May 30, 2023, the Photonic Nose and Molecular Materials Group held four sessions of 2023 doctoral and master's dissertation and thesis defense at four venues, including the lecture hall and conference room of the Institute of New Concept Sensors and Molecular Materials, on Shaanxi Normal University’s Chang’an campus, at which four doctoral students and 18 master's students conducted and passed the defense.

At the defense session held in the Lecture Hall of the Institute, doctoral student Xu Wenjun gave a defense report titled Construction, Photophysical Properties and Functional Applications of Multi-level Charge Transfer Molecular System; doctoral student Li Min gave a defense report titled Substrate and Coating Structural Effects in the Functional Application of Small Molecule-based Fluorescent Materials; and doctoral student Qiao Min gave a defense report titled Construction and Discrimination Recognition Performance of Interactive Response Sensing System Based on Single Fluorescent Probe.

The defense committee of this group is chaired by Prof. Liu Feng of Xi'an Jiaotong University, with Prof. Wang Jinyi of Northwest A&F University, Prof. Han Yingfeng of Northwest University, Prof. He Gang of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Prof. Yin Shiwei of Shaanxi Normal University serving as members, and Prof. Ma Jiani of Shaanxi Normal University as the secretary.

At the defense session held in the conference room of the Institute, seven master's students Liu Shanshan, Chu Liangwen, Chang Zu, An Nan, Chen Xinyi, Gao Xinxiang and Zhou Ying, conducted their thesis defense. The defense committee of this group is chaired by Prof. Zhang Mingming of Xi'an Jiaotong University, with  Prof. Wu Weiwei of Xidian University (online), Prof. Li Yuangang of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, Prof. Zhang Wei and Prof. Dang Jingshuang of Shaanxi Normal University, and Prof. Ding Liping, Prof. Liu Jing and Prof. Peng Haonan of this research group serving as committee members, and Senior Engineer Zhang Helan as the secretary.

At the defense session held in Conference Room 1347 of Zhizhi Building, doctoral student Zhou Dexia gave a defense report titled Research on Ultrafast Dynamics Based on Host-Guest Interactive Ion Recognition, and four master's students Meng Lingbo, Zheng Jiancong, Huang Wei and Zhao Jiayin, conducted their thesis defense. The chairman of the defense committee of this group is Prof. Ren Zefeng, and the committee members are Prof. Qi Zhenhui of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Prof. Sun Xiaolong of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Prof. Cao Liping of Northwest University and Prof. Liu Fengyi of Shaanxi Normal University, and associate researcher Liu Xiaoyan of Shaanxi Normal University serves as the secretary.

At the defense session held in the Conference Room 1755 of Zhizhi Building, seven master's students, including Guan Wang, Yang Ning, Jiang Wenhe, Zhu Lin, Jiang Zehua, Wang Junhui and Song Haimao, conducted their thesis defense. The chairman of the defense committee of this group is Prof. Kong Jie of Northwestern Polytechnical University, and the committee members include Prof. Ou Junjie of Northwest University, Prof. Yu You of Northwest University, Prof. Yang Qingyuan of Xi'an Jiaotong University and assoc. Prof. Shi Xuetao of Northwestern Polytechnical University, and associate researcher Bo Xin of Shaanxi Normal University serves as the secretary.

At the defense sessions, the students reported on their work during their graduate studies and answered the questions raised by the members of the defense committee, who also put forward targeted opinions and requirements for the students' dissertations and theses.

After deliberation, the four defense committees agreed that the graduate students participating in the defense passed the defense and agreed to award doctoral and master's degrees to them.
