On July 22, 2026, more than 150 graduate students participating in the “National Outstanding Program” from Shaanxi Normal University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University visited the Institute of New Concept Sensors and Molecular Materials at Shaanxi Normal University for a study tour.

INCSMM vice dean Prof. Ding Liping introduced the students to the institute’s basic profile, research team, research overview, and development philosophy. Subsequently, R&D Engineer Wang Pei led the students on a tour of the institute’s exhibition room, explaining the important roles of sensor technology and molecular gel materials in fields such as national defense and security, environmental monitoring, and healthcare, as well as commercialized products developed by Prof. Fang Yu’s team, including explosive detectors, drug detectors, and slow-release environmental disinfection products.

The “National Outstanding Program” is officially known as the National Program for the Training of Outstanding Primary and Secondary School Teachers. Leveraging the disciplinary strengths of high-level comprehensive universities, the program selects a group of science and engineering students who excel academically and demonstrate a passion for and aptitude for teaching. While solidifying their knowledge in science and engineering courses, these students systematically study teacher education-related courses, thereby cultivating and supplying a cohort of high-quality, professional, and outstanding teachers for the field of basic education.
